Today is Women’s Day. People across the globe are posting wishes honouring women in their life...mothers, wives, or sisters. I am no different. My mother deserves honour and respect for all she does for our family. In return, she deserves a beautiful ending in this life and the highest rank in Jannah. — But this post here is not only about my mother, Bibi Asha. It is also about a man who deserves the equal honour for his love and respect towards the women in his life. It’s my father, Mahamed Ismail. All my life, I witnessed how my father loves and respects my mother, how he cared for her. I witnessed how he proudly helps my mother doing house chores, gives her massages when she’s tired...until today. I grew up witnessing how my father “celebrates” Women’s Day every single day for over 40 years! — My parents were blessed with three daughters, before Allah then blessed them with two sons. Never in my life did I feel that my parents treated me or my two younger sisters a little less than they treated their sons. They love, respect and care for all five of us equally, no more no less. I remember back in my early 20s I complained to my parents that it would’ve been better if they got a son as the first child. I thought a son would be more of a greater help to them than a daughter would be. But their response on that day was a real blessing... — My parents said, “You alone as our eldest child is like we’re blessed with three sons.” I know the answer was surely to comfort my feelings at the time. But that’s not important. What matters is, the answer was full of pure love, utmost respect. And truly, the love and respect that my parents have showered me with has molded me into the woman I am today. — Rasulullah saw said: “Whoever has three daughters and is patient towards them, and feeds them, and gives them to drink, and clothes them from his wealth; they will be a shield for him from the Fire on the Day of Resurrection.” I bear witness that my parents have fulfilled their duties excellently. May Allah reward them with good ending in this life and may abundant rewards await them in Jannatul Firdaus. Aameen ♥️ — Written by Dr Ashmiza Dr Auntie
